Hi friends! I'm Brandi from Not Your Average Ordinary. Joanna was sweet enough to ask me over to keep you company while she's on her whirlwind of a wedding and honeymoon. When she asked me to write something summery, my mind immediately went back to my road trip last summer and some time I spent in a very special place along the way.
Last summer, I drove over 3,000 miles as I wound my way from San Diego to Vancouver to New York City. I'd never seen so much of the country before and so many areas were completely new to me. And while many of them were special, Napa stands out in my mind as a little piece of paradise.
It may have been the company. It may have been the food. It may have been the chocolate or sunshine or the cool breeze or the hot air balloons hanging in the sky in the early morning. Or it may have been a combination of all these things that made my two days in the area feel like a lifetime.
While photographs could never really capture the feeling perfectly, I find myself easily slipping back into the dream that Napa was...
While I couldn't eat at French Laundry, I could wander around their gardens...
...and I bought heirloom beans at Rancho Gordo.
Then I spent the afternoon at Sattui Winery, where I bought lunch and wandered around the grounds...
...and stopped off at Woodhouse Chocolates in Yountville, home to some heavenly chocolates.
Next time I find myself there, I hope to be staying for a very long while.
I haven't been to Napa but wandered around Sonoma this past spring. I'd love to go in the summer when it's warmer
